Harp building

Partially unassembled harp I'm building a harp from a Hughes kit I bought through Lark in the Morning, it was their Catrin modeland I have to say that the wood working part of the project has been very easy, though somewhat tedious with all the sanding.

The kit came with all parts precut, which meant the majority of the work was in sanding things smooth before glueing them together.
After too much sanding, I went slightly nuts and decided to add decorations, which I have more about on my knotwork page.

The first image shows the soundbox glued together and ready to be glued together with the pillar.

Next bit to do was to get the holes drilled once the glue's had time to dry, followed by varnishing, adding nuts and tuning pins, installing the strings and tuning it.
As I haven't had access to a digital camera since finishing the harp, I haven't got any pictures of it as it looks at the moment.

Finally what's going to be the most time consuming part, learning how to play it.

Looking at their website, it looks like they no longer sell this kit, which I think is a shame as I found it very easy to put together and the sound is definitly good enough for a beginners instrument.
